This page is about **that panel itself**: what each part of it does, how to set it up correctly before you type a word and what to expect once you hit submit. {% hint style="success" %} **Looking for what to actually type?** This page covers the mechanics of the panel - the box, the buttons, the toggle, the response cards. *** ## Ask Juris Prompt Box Once you click into **Ask questions or make changes to the document**, you'll see a single input area doing a lot of work. Here's what each part is for:
#### Setting your scope {% tabs %} {% tab title="Whole Document" %} Jurisphere considers the entire open file. Use **Whole Document** whenever your question could touch more than one place in the file, or when you do not know where the relevant language is yet. **Try asking:** > "Summarize every clause that survives termination and tell me how long each one lasts." > "Find any place in this agreement where 'reasonable efforts' is used without a defined standard." > "Does anything in this document conflict with the payment terms in Section 4?" Whole Document is also the right choice the first time you open a document you did not draft yourself. It's a fast way to get oriented before you start editing anything. {% endtab %} {% tab title="Selection Only" %} Jurisphere considers only the text you've highlighted in the open Word file. Use this when you know precisely which clause, paragraph or sentence you're working on and want a fast, tightly scoped answer. **Try asking (with clause 8.2 highlighted):** > "Rewrite this so the termination right runs both ways." > "Is this indemnity clause capped or is liability uncapped as written?" > {% endtab %} > {% endtabs %} #### The text field Type a question ("*What are the termination triggers in this agreement?*"), an instruction ("*Rewrite this clause to be mutual*"), or leave it and pick a Skill from the list below the field instead (see [Skills in the Word Add-In](/jurisphere-word-add-in/core-features/ask-juris/skills-in-the-word-add-in.md)). #### Attach a precedent Lets you bring in one supporting file, such as a precedent, a related agreement, a term sheet, for Jurisphere to draw on alongside your open document. {% hint style="danger" %} Attaching a second file replaces the first rather than adding to it. See [Attaching a context file](#attaching-a-context-file) below for how to use the single slot well in the meantime. {% endhint %} #### Voice Input Lets you speak your instruction instead of typing it. Talk naturally as there's no special phrasing required. Dictation works for both questions, drafting and editing instructions. The spoken instruction is transcribed into the text field as ordinary text. Read it over before hitting Submit and use our [Prompt Enhancement](/jurisphere-word-add-in/help-section/errors-and-faqs/prompt-enhancement.md) if you're not sure how to phrase it right. Press **Tab** while your cursor is in the text field. Jurisphere expands a rough idea into a fuller, more specific instruction before you submit anything. #### Submit Sends your query. It stays greyed out until there's something in the text field, so you cannot accidentally submit an empty prompt. *** ### Attaching a context file {% stepper %} {% step %} **Click the paperclip icon** Found to the left of the microphone icon, just below the text field. {% endstep %} {% step %} **Choose a file** Select the file you want Jurisphere to draw on, such as a precedent agreement, a term sheet, a related piece of correspondence. You can choose from the files uploaded to our web platform or simply click “Upload” to add a new document from your device.
{% endstep %} {% step %} **Reference it in your instruction** Once attached, tell Jurisphere explicitly what to do with it. **Try asking:** > "Use the attached precedent's indemnity clause as the starting point." > "Compare this document's confidentiality obligations against the attached template and flag anything materially different." > {% endstep %} > {% endstepper %} *** ### Choosing what happens next Once your scope is set and your instruction is typed, what happens next depends on what you asked for. The Add-In responds to the substance of your instruction or to which Skill or Playbook you selected. Ask a question to understand a risk, then immediately follow up with an editing instruction to fix it - both in the same thread, with full context carried over. See [Iterating with follow-ups](#iterating-with-follow-ups) below. {% endhint %} *** ### Iterating with follow-ups Keep the same conversation open and build on it rather than starting fresh each time. Jurisphere retains the full context of everything asked and answered so far in that thread. You can ask up to 20 questions in the same chat. **Try asking, as follow-ups to the indemnity example above:** > "Now make that carve-out mutual, so it applies to both parties' gross negligence, not just one." > "Add a similar carve-out to the limitation of liability clause." *** --- # Agent Instructions This documentation is published with GitBook.
