# Reviewing Documents with Ask Juris

## Overview

Ask Juris can also be used to analyse and interact with documents.

Attach or [Drag and Drop](/getting-started/browsing-files-on-jurisphere/uploading-files-and-folders.md#quick-upload-drag-drop-and-paste) the relevant files to Ask Juris and tell Jurisphere what you want to know.

### Key capabilities

* **Multi-document support:** Select multiple documents at once to get insights across your entire document set: contract portfolios, due diligence materials, or a related set of case documents.
* **Localized intelligence:** By default, running a query with files attached and research toggled off, answers **exclusively from your uploaded documents**, with no external sources or general knowledge unless you enable them.

{% hint style="info" %}
If your task requires external sources like judgements, regulations and other materials, please enable **Research** before submitting your prompt.

If a question needs research and it’s disabled, Ask Juris will prompt you to turn it on.
{% endhint %}

## How to review documents

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Attach your Documents

Select **Attach** or [**Drag and Drop**](/getting-started/browsing-files-on-jurisphere/uploading-files-and-folders.md#quick-upload-drag-drop-and-paste) your files. This expands the files pane so you can choose the documents Jurisphere should consider.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Select Relevant Modes

You can toggle:

* **Enable Research:** to bring Jurisphere's research databases into the analysis.
* **Enable Drafting:** to generate the response as a clean formatted word document.
* **Fast Mode**: for short, direct answers when you need them fast.
* **Deep Mode**: for a more thorough analysis of complex queries.
* **Agent Mode:** for interactive planning with the tool, to shape every step, then run it end to end.
* **Enable Knowledge:** to search your organization's uploaded document collection for relevant precedents, templates and policies.
* **Skills:** lawyer-built skills for specific tasks, with the right research, drafting and deep modes already applied.
* **Settings:** connect your email and integrate internal communications/data and enable the legal databases available for research.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Type your Question

Describe the review or analysis you want Jurisphere to perform.

For example:

> * *Identify the key risks in this agreement.*
> * *Summarise the termination and renewal provisions across these agreements.*
> * *Compare the obligations of the Purchaser and Seller.*
> * *Identify provisions that may create uncapped liability.*
> * *Prepare a table of all representations and warranties.*

See the [Prompting Guide](/resources/prompting-guide.md) and [Prompt Library](/resources/prompting-guide/prompt-library.md) for more techniques or use [**Prompt Enhancement**](/resources/prompting-guide/prompt-library.md#prompt-enhancement) on any prompt.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Review the Response

Ask Juris will analyse the selected document context and provide a response based on your instructions.

* You can verify the information through **inline citations** and our view sources tab.
* **Download** or **copy** the response from the bottom-left corner of the output.
* Continue the conversation by asking a **follow-up** question.
* **Import** the response directly into a folder on the platform for reference in the matter or other tasks.
 {% endstep %}
 {% endstepper %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
The optimal range for a single Document Review session is **10-50 documents, or 800-5,000 pages**. For larger sets, use the [Parallel Review tool](/parallel-review/overview-of-the-parallel-review-tool.md), which can extract information across large sets of documents.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.jurisphere.ai/ask-juris/reviewing-documents-with-ask-juris.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
